‘Pappu Can’t Dance Saala’ and ‘Jo Hum Chahein’ got released last Friday but failed to attract the audiences. While the former had 5% occupancy the latter had only 1%. These films failed to mint in India or overseas for that matter.
While on the other hand, The Dirty Picture, starring Vidya Balan is still luring the audiences to the theaters.
Vinay Pathak gave small budget films a revival but he failed to pull the mass to the theaters. His films Bheja Fry 2, Chalo Dilli, Tere Mere Phere and the latest Pappu Can’t Dance Saala though may have received good reviews but the films have fallen flat at the box office.
Another release Jo Hum Chahein starring new faces of Bollywood Simran Kaur Mundi, the ex-Miss India and Sunny Gill lacked the luster of the good film. Weak plot, boring theme and poor performances all resulted in failure of the film.
Even Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl is not that successful at the box office. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Vidya Balan’s film is overpowering the new releases. In such a case, all the eyes are set on Shahrukh Khan’s Don 2.
We hope 2011 comes to a good end in terms of Bollywood with don 2 release.
