Many Bollywood films today are shifting their attention towards the virgin trails of Gujarat where the exotic beaches and lush coastlines are attracting and welcoming the movie makers. As a proof Vishal Bhardwaj has chosen Gujarat over Uttar Pradesh to shoot his upcoming comic caper Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mann Dola starring Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma. The stars would be seen shooting in the coastal town of Mandvi in Kutch and Wankaner.
Vipul Mitra, tourism secretary of the state, confirmed saying, “During a film-producers meet in Mumbai earlier this year, we made a presentation of the possible locations in the state and distributed CDs. This proved to be very fruitful. After this, several producers came forward with inquiries and Vishal is one of them. We have showcased Mandvi as a virgin beach, Idar and Saputara as hill stations, Kutch to replace the deserts of Rajasthan along with various wildlife sanctuaries in the state for film shootings.”
Amitabh Bachchan, the brand ambassador for Gujarat, played a pivotal role in bringing Bhardwaj to Gujarat.”Bhardwaj was eyeing Uttar Pradesh as his location, but it was Big B who convinced him about the peaceful atmosphere and the crowd in the state who are very patient and well behaved. And finally, it was the call from Bachchan to the tourism department officials which was enough for the department to roll out the red carpet to Bhardwaj,” said a senior official of Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd.
Even the office of Vishal has confirmed that the movie would be shot in Gujarat. So can we see Gujarat as next venue for almost all Bollywood shootings!
