Irrfan Khan is doing an offbeat film that is hitting the theaters on 2nd March. Because the film has an interesting plot and an exciting storyline, it can be expected to be a success at box office. Being an excellent performer Irrfan is definitely going to surprise his audience by the film.
‘Paan Singh Tomar’ is directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and produced by Ronnie Screwvala. Mahie Gill and Irrfan Khan are in the lead roles.
The film is about a simple farmer who is a dedicated soldier by profession and is an exceptional athlete but somehow turns a dangerous dacoit by circumstances. Paan Singh Tomar has bagged the steeplechase for whole seven years at National Games. He even breaks a ten year national record at the Games.
But life is not all cake’s walk for him. There are some life changing incidents that lead him to give up athletics and he picks a dangerous friend – a rifle – in his hands. His threat spreads in whole of Chambal Valley of Central India.
The film was shot in Chambal and in the actual barracks Tomar lived in at the North Indian town or Roorkee. Irrfan Khan trained rigorously for the steeplechase. He even breaking his ankle at one point during filming. He called the experience “the most physically and mentally demanding film of my career”.
The film has also been shot in the uphills of one of the oldest army cantonments in India, Roorkee. The Dramatics Team of the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee has also contributed to several scenes shot in the cantonment including the race sequence
